Back to passage

At the designated time Cain brought some of the fruit of the ground for an offering to the LORD.

Abram bowed down with his face to the ground, and God said to him,

A continual fire must be kept burning on the altar. It must not be extinguished.

Then Moses and Aaron fell down with their faces to the ground before the whole assembled community of the Israelites.

He has not looked on iniquity in Jacob, nor has he seen trouble in Israel. The LORD their God is with them; his acclamation as king is among them.

Manoah took a young goat and a grain offering and offered them on a rock to the LORD. The LORD’s messenger did an amazing thing as Manoah and his wife watched.

But his wife said to him,“If the LORD wanted to kill us, he would not have accepted the burnt offering and the grain offering from us. He would not have shown us all these things, or have spoken to us like this just now.”

Hezekiah prayed before the LORD:“LORD God of Israel, who is enthroned on the cherubim! You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the sky and the earth.

O LORD, I have built a lofty temple for you, a place where you can live permanently.”

When all the Israelites saw the fire come down and the LORD’s splendor over the temple, they got on their knees with their faces downward toward the pavement. They worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying,“Certainly he is good; certainly his loyal love endures!”

May he take notice of all your offerings; may he accept your burnt sacrifice!(Selah)

Going a little farther, he threw himself down with his face to the ground and prayed,“My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

and when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders threw themselves to the ground before the Lamb. Each of them had a harp and golden bowls full of incense(which are the prayers of the saints).
