VI. The Divine Speeches(38:1-42:6)The Lord’s First Speech Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind:

In your distress you called out and I rescued you. I answered you from a dark thundercloud. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.(Selah)

The LORD wanted to exhibit his justice by magnifying his law and displaying it.

“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I take great delight. I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.

Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came from the cloud,“This is my one dear Son. Listen to him!”

As he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

The Father loves the Son and has placed all things under his authority.

And the Father who sent me has himself testified about me. You people have never heard his voice nor seen his form at any time,

“Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; remain in my love.

Moses said,‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must obey him in everything he tells you.

As he was going along, approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.

He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves,

Warning Against Drifting Away Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Take care not to refuse the one who is speaking! For if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less shall we, if we reject the one who warns from heaven?

(Look! He is returning with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes on the earth will mourn because of him. This will certainly come to pass! Amen.)
