He came to a town called Nazareth and lived there. Then what had been spoken by the prophets was fulfilled, that Jesus would be called a Nazarene.

Others said,“He is Elijah.” Others said,“He is a prophet, like one of the prophets from the past.”

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself,“If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.”

He said to them,“What things?”“The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene,” they replied,“a man who, with his powerful deeds and words, proved to be a prophet before God and all the people;

So they asked John,“Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

The woman said to him,“Sir, I see that you are a prophet.

Differing Opinions About Jesus When they heard these words, some of the crowd began to say,“This really is the Prophet!”

Moses said,‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must obey him in everything he tells you.
