Then you came back and wept before the LORD, but he paid no attention to you whatsoever.

Does God listen to his cry when distress overtakes him?

They cry out, but there is no one to help them; they cry out to the LORD, but he does not answer them.

When he struck them down, they sought his favor; they turned back and longed for God.

When you spread out your hands in prayer, I look the other way; when you offer your many prayers, I do not listen, because your hands are covered with blood.

Even if they fast, I will not hear their cries for help. Even if they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will kill them through wars, famines, and plagues.”

The Futility of Sacrificial Ritual without Moral Obedience Although they bring their flocks and herds to seek the favor of the LORD, They will not find him– he has withdrawn himself from them!

People will stagger from sea to sea, and from the north around to the east. They will wander about looking for a message from the LORD, but they will not find any.
