He was among the men of the sixth century. We know nothing of him save what is recorded in the book "The Ladder of Divine Ascent" by Saint John Climacus, in which is found:
Saint John Sabas related that there was an elder in one of the monasteries of Asia Minor whom he knew personally, marked by a quickness to anger, harsh in his manners. A gentle young man named Acacius served him, who was pious and devout, loving of service, enduring suffering with patience. The elder would insult and mistreat him, and even beat him, while the brother endured it with patience; indeed, he would kiss his hands and ask his forgiveness.
Father John would meet with brother Acacius and console him and strengthen him in endurance. He remained in this state until he reposed, after nine years of service to the harsh elder. Five days after his repose, the elder went to one of the monks—most likely Saint John Sabas himself—and said to him: "Father, brother Acacius has died." The monk answered: "In truth, O elder, I do not believe it." He said to him: "Come and see." He rose in haste until he reached the grave.
There the monk stood before the grave and addressed the brother as though he were alive, saying: "Brother Acacius, have you died?" And behold, the two of them heard the voice: "Father, how can a man who kept obedience die?" Then his teacher, the harsh elder, was broken, and began to weep bitterly, and resolved to live in a cell beside the grave, never to part from his disciple. Whenever anyone asked him how he fared, he would say: "Forgive me, my brother, for Christ's sake, for I killed brother Acacius by the ferocity of my nature."
The Greek Church commemorates this righteous Acacius on the twenty-ninth of the month of November.
And he is commemorated on the 4th of September
