Paul raises Eutychus to life (image 1): "And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him." (Acts 20:9-10) - from the book "Figures de la Bible," 1728 A.D.
English: Saint Eutychus - Hebrew: אבטוכוס - Greek: Εὔτυχος - Latin: Eutychus.
Eutychus was a disciple of Saint John the Evangelist. After this saint had remained with the Apostle for a time, he asked him to be allowed to go to Saint Paul the Apostle, and John gave him leave. So he journeyed to Paul and preached with him in the name of Christ, and he brought back many of the Jews and the pagans to the Lord Jesus and baptized them, and he turned the temples of the idols into churches.
He endured chains and imprisonment for a long time. He was cast into the fire, but it did not harm him; and he was thrown to the wild beasts, but they did him no injury and instead grew tame toward him. This saint went to Sebastia and preached there, and the Angel of the Lord walked with him and strengthened him. When he had completed his course in peace, he reposed in a good old age.
It is said of this saint that he was that young man who was sitting in the window, weighed down by a deep sleep at the time when Paul the Apostle was delivering his discourse, and who fell from the third loft to the ground and was taken up dead, and whom Paul the Apostle raised by his prayer (Acts 20:9-12).
He is commemorated on the 1st of Nasi
