Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people; and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day: and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand.

And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from [those of] every people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.

but when [the matter] came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he had devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

Behold, he travaileth with iniquity; Yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the skies.

[For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David]. Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man; Preserve me from the violent man:

For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

In whose heart is perverseness, Who deviseth evil continually, Who soweth discord.

Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses:

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scoffer ceaseth, and all they that watch for iniquity are cut off;

For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue muttereth wickedness.

And he said unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and that give wicked counsel in this city;

For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the sojourner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.
