But ye have set at nought all my counsel, And would none of my reproof:

My son, forget not my law; But let thy heart keep my commandments:

And he taught me, and said unto me: Let thy heart retain my words; Keep my commandments, and live;

And say, How have I hated instruction, And my heart despised reproof;

For the commandment is a lamp; And the law is light; And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; [And] he that hateth reproof shall die.

Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, And apply thy heart unto my knowledge.

Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands?

But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned [them] on earth, much more [shall not] we [escape] who turn away from him that [warneth] from heaven:
