ASVs · الأصحاح 25
A nd SamuelH8050 died;H4191 and all IsraelH3478 gathered themselves together,H6908 and lamentedH5594 him, and buriedH6912 him in his houseH1004 at Ramah.H7414 And DavidH1732 arose,H6965 and went downH3381 to the wildernessH4057 of Paran.H6290
And there was a manH376 in Maon,H4584 whose possessionsH4639 were in Carmel;H3760 and the manH376 was veryH3966 great,H1419 and he had threeH7969 thousandH505 sheep,H6629 and a thousandH505 goats:H5795 and he was shearingH1494 his sheepH6629 in Carmel.H3760
Now the nameH8034 of the manH376 was Nabal;H5037 and the nameH8034 of his wifeH802 Abigail;H26 and the womanH802 was of goodH2896 understanding,H7922 and of a beautifulH3303 countenance:H8389 but the manH376 was churlishH7186 and evilH7451 in his doings;H4611 and he was of the house of Caleb.H3614
And DavidH1732 heardH8085 in the wildernessH4057 that NabalH5037 was shearingH1494 his sheep.H6629
And DavidH1732 sentH7971 tenH6235 young men,H5288 and DavidH1732 saidH559 unto the young men,H5288 Get you upH5927 to Carmel,H3760 and goH935 to Nabal,H5037 and greetH7592 him in my name:H8034
and thus shall ye sayH559 to him that livethH2416 [in prosperity], PeaceH7965 be unto thee, and peaceH7965 be to thy house,H1004 and peaceH7965 be unto all that thou hast.
And now I have heardH8085 that thou hast shearers:H1494 thy shepherdsH7462 have now been with us, and we did them no hurt,H3637 neither was there aughtH3972 missingH6485 unto them, all the whileH3117 they were in Carmel.H3760
AskH7592 thy young men,H5288 and they will tellH5046 thee: wherefore let the young menH5288 findH4672 favorH2580 in thine eyes;H5869 for we comeH935 in a goodH2896 day:H3117 give,H5414 I pray thee, whatsoever comethH4672 to thy hand,H3027 unto thy servants,H5650 and to thy sonH1121 David.H1732
And when David'sH1732 young menH5288 came,H935 they spakeH1696 to NabalH5037 according to all those wordsH1697 in the nameH8034 of David,H1732 and ceased.H5117
And NabalH5037 answeredH6030 David'sH1732 servants,H5650 and said,H559 Who is David?H1732 and who is the sonH1121 of Jesse?H3448 there are manyH7231 servantsH5650 now-a-daysH3117 that break awayH6555 every manH376 fromH6440 his master.H113
Shall I then takeH3947 my bread,H3899 and my water,H4325 and my fleshH2878 that I have killedH2873 for my shearers,H1494 and giveH5414 it unto menH582 of whom I knowH3045 not whence they are?
So David'sH1732 young menH5288 turnedH2015 on their way,H1870 and went back,H7725 and cameH935 and toldH5046 him according to all these words.H1697
And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto his men,H582 Gird ye onH2296 every manH376 his sword.H2719 And they girded onH2296 every manH376 his sword;H2719 and DavidH1732 also girded onH2296 his sword:H2719 and there went upH5927 afterH310 DavidH1732 about fourH702 hundredH3967 men;H376 and two hundredH3967 abodeH3427 by the baggage.H3627
But oneH259 of the young menH5288 toldH5046 Abigail,H26 Nabal'sH5037 wife,H802 saying,H559 Behold, DavidH1732 sentH7971 messengersH4397 out of the wildernessH4057 to saluteH1288 our master;H113 and he railedH5860 at them.
But the menH582 were veryH3966 goodH2896 unto us, and we were not hurt,H3637 neither missedH6485 we anything,H3972 as long asH3117 we wentH1980 with them, when we were in the fields:H7704
they were a wallH2346 unto us both by nightH3915 and by day,H3119 all the whileH3117 we were with them keepingH7462 the sheep.H6629
Now therefore knowH3045 and considerH7200 what thou wilt do;H6213 for evilH7451 is determinedH3615 against our master,H113 and against all his house:H1004 for he is such a worthlessH1100 fellow,H1121 that one cannot speakH1696 to him.
Then AbigailH26 made haste,H4116 and tookH3947 two hundredH3967 loaves,H3899 and twoH8147 bottlesH5035 of wine,H3196 and fiveH2568 sheepH6629 ready dressed,H6213 and fiveH2568 measuresH5429 of parchedH7039 grain, and a hundredH3967 clusters of raisins,H6778 and two hundredH3967 cakesH1690 of figs, and laidH7760 them on asses.H2543
And she saidH559 unto her young men,H5288 Go onH5674 beforeH6440 me; behold, I comeH935 afterH310 you. But she toldH5046 not her husbandH376 Nabal.H5037
And it was so, as she rodeH7392 on her ass,H2543 and came downH3381 by the covertH5643 of the mountain,H2022 that, behold, DavidH1732 and his menH582 came downH3381 towardH7125 her; and she metH6298 them.
Now DavidH1732 had said,H559 Surely in vainH8267 have I keptH8104 all that thisH2088 fellow hath in the wilderness,H4057 so that nothingH3972 was missedH6485 of all that pertained unto him: and he hath returnedH7725 me evilH7451 for good.H2896
GodH430 doH6213 soH3541 unto the enemiesH341 of David,H1732 and moreH3254 also, if I leaveH7604 of all that pertain to him byH5704 the morningH1242 lightH216 so much as one H8366 man-child.H7023
And when AbigailH26 sawH7200 David,H1732 she hasted,H4116 and alightedH3381 from her ass,H2543 and fellH5307 beforeH639 DavidH1732 on her face,H6440 and bowedH7812 herself to the ground.H776
And she fellH5307 at his feet,H7272 and said,H559 Upon me, my lord,H113 upon me be the iniquity;H5771 and let thy handmaid,H519 I pray thee, speakH1696 in thine ears,H241 and hearH8085 thou the wordsH1697 of thy handmaid.H589
LetH7760 not my lord,H113 I pray thee, regardH3820 this worthlessH1100 fellow,H376 even Nabal;H5037 for as his nameH8034 is, so is he; NabalH5037 is his name,H8034 and follyH5039 is with him: but I thy handmaidH519 sawH7200 not the young menH5288 of my lord,H113 whom thou didst send.H7971
Now therefore, my lord,H113 as JehovahH3068 liveth,H2416 and as thy soulH5315 liveth,H2416 seeing JehovahH3068 hath withholdenH4513 thee fromH935 bloodguiltiness,H1818 and from avengingH3467 thyself with thine own hand,H3027 now therefore let thine enemies,H341 and them that seekH1245 evilH7451 to my lord,H113 be as Nabal.H5037
And now this presentH1293 which thy servantH8198 hath broughtH935 unto my lord,H113 let it be givenH5414 unto the young menH5288 that followH1980 my lord.H113
Forgive,H5375 I pray thee, the trespassH6588 of thy handmaid:H519 for JehovahH3068 will certainlyH6213 makeH6213 my lordH3068 a sureH539 house,H1004 because my lordH113 fightethH3898 the battlesH4421 of Jehovah;H113 and evilH7451 shall not be foundH4672 in thee all thy days.H3117
And though menH120 be risenH6965 up to pursueH7291 thee, and to seekH1245 thy soul,H5315 yet the soulH5315 of my lordH113 shall be boundH6887 in the bundleH6872 of lifeH2416 with JehovahH3068 thy God;H430 and the soulsH5315 of thine enemies,H341 them shall he sling out,H7049 as from the hollowH8432 of a sling.H7050
And it shall come to pass, when JehovahH3068 shall have doneH6213 to my lordH3068 according to all the goodH2896 that he hath spokenH1696 concerning thee, and shall have appointedH6680 thee princeH5057 over Israel,H3478
that this shall be no griefH6330 unto thee, nor offenceH4383 of heartH3820 unto my lord,H113 either that thou hast shedH8210 bloodH1818 without cause,H2600 or that my lordH113 hath avengedH3467 himself. And when JehovahH3068 shall have dealt wellH3190 with my lord,H113 then rememberH2142 thy handmaid.H519
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to Abigail,H26 BlessedH1288 be Jehovah,H3068 the GodH430 of Israel,H3478 who sentH7971 thee this dayH3117 to meetH7125 me:
and blessedH1288 be thy discretion,H2940 and blessedH1288 be thou, that hast keptH3607 me this dayH3117 fromH935 bloodguiltiness,H1818 and from avengingH3467 myself with mine own hand.H3027
For in very deed,H199 as Jehovah,H3068 the GodH430 of Israel,H3478 liveth,H2416 who hath withholdenH4513 me from hurtingH7489 thee, exceptH3884 thou hadst hastedH4116 and comeH935 to meetH7125 me, surely there had not been leftH3498 unto NabalH5037 by the morningH1242 lightH216 so much as one H8366 man-child.H7023
So DavidH1732 receivedH3947 of her handH3027 that which she had broughtH935 him: and he saidH559 unto her, Go upH5927 in peaceH7965 to thy house;H1004 see,H7200 I have hearkenedH8085 to thy voice,H6963 and have acceptedH5375 thy person.H6440
And AbigailH26 cameH935 to Nabal;H5037 and, behold, he held a feastH4960 in his house,H1004 like the feastH4960 of a king;H4428 and Nabal'sH5037 heartH3820 was merryH2896 within him, for he was veryH3966 drunken:H7910 wherefore she toldH5046 him nothing,H1697 lessH6996 or more,H1419 until the morningH1242 light.H216
And it came to pass in the morning,H1242 when the wineH3196 was gone outH3318 of Nabal,H5037 that his wifeH802 toldH5046 him these things,H1697 and his heartH3820 diedH4191 withinH7130 him, and he became as a stone.H68
And it came to pass about tenH6235 daysH3117 after, that JehovahH3068 smoteH5062 Nabal,H5037 so that he died.H4191
And when DavidH1732 heardH8085 that NabalH5037 was dead,H4191 he said,H559 BlessedH1288 be Jehovah,H3068 that hath pleadedH7378 the causeH7379 of my reproachH2781 from the handH3027 of Nabal,H5037 and hath keptH2820 back his servantH5650 from evil:H7451 and the evil-doingH7451 of NabalH5037 hath JehovahH3068 returnedH7725 upon his own head.H7218 And DavidH1732 sentH7971 and spakeH1696 concerning Abigail,H26 to takeH3947 her to him to wife.H802
And when the servantsH5650 of DavidH1732 were comeH935 to AbigailH26 to Carmel,H3760 they spakeH1696 unto her, saying,H559 DavidH1732 hath sentH7971 us unto thee, to takeH3947 thee to him to wife.H802
And she arose,H6965 and bowedH7812 herself with her faceH639 to the earth,H776 and said,H559 Behold, thy handmaidH519 is a servantH8198 to washH7364 the feetH7272 of the servantsH8198 of my lord.H113
And AbigailH26 hasted,H4116 and arose,H6965 and rodeH7392 upon an ass,H2543 with fiveH2568 damselsH5291 of hers thatH1980 followedH7272 her; and she wentH1980 afterH7272 the messengersH4397 of David,H1732 and became his wife.H802
DavidH1732 also tookH3947 AhinoamH293 of Jezreel;H3157 and they became bothH8147 of them his wives.H802
Now SaulH7586 had givenH5414 MichalH4324 his daughter,H1323 David'sH1732 wife,H802 to PaltiH6406 the sonH1121 of Laish,H3919 who was of Gallim.H1554
