ASVs · الأصحاح 44
A nd he commandedH6680 the steward of his house,H1004 saying,H559 FillH4390 the men'sH582 sacksH572 with food,H400 as much asH834 they canH3201 carry,H5375 and putH7760 every man'sH376 moneyH3701 in his sack'sH572 mouth.H6310
And putH7760 my cup,H1375 the silverH3701 cup,H1375 in the sack'sH572 mouthH6310 of the youngest,H6996 and his grainH7668 money.H3701 And he didH6213 according to the wordH1697 that JosephH3130 had spoken.H1696
As soon as the morningH1242 was light,H215 the menH582 were sent away,H7971 they and their asses.H2543
[ And] when they were gone outH3318 of the city,H5892 and were not yet far off,H7368 JosephH3130 saidH559 unto his steward,H1004 Up,H6965 followH7291 afterH310 the men;H582 and when thou dost overtakeH5381 them, sayH559 unto them, Wherefore have ye rewardedH7999 evilH7451 for good?H2896
Is not this that in which my lordH113 drinketh,H8354 and whereby he indeedH5172 divineth?H5172 ye have done evilH7489 in so doing.H6213
And he overtookH5381 them, and he spakeH1696 unto them theseH428 words.H1697
And they saidH559 unto him, Wherefore speakethH1696 my lordH113 such wordsH1697 as these? Far be itH2486 from thy servantsH5650 that they should doH6213 such a thing.H1697
Behold, the money,H3701 which we foundH4672 in our sacks'H572 mouths,H6310 we brought againH7725 unto thee out of the landH776 of Canaan:H3667 how then should we stealH1589 out of thy lord'sH113 houseH1004 silverH3701 or gold?H2091
With whomsoever of thy servantsH5650 it be found,H4672 let him die,H4191 and we also will be my lord'sH113 bondmen.H5650
And he said,H559 Now also let it be according unto your words:H3651 he with whom it is foundH4672 shall be my bondman;H5650 and ye shall be blameless.H5355
Then they hasted,H4116 and took downH3381 every manH376 his sackH572 to the ground,H776 and openedH6605 every manH376 his sack.H572
And he searched,H2664 [and] beganH2490 at the eldest,H1419 and leftH3615 off at the youngest:H6996 and the cupH1375 was foundH4672 in Benjamin'sH1144 sack.H572
Then they rentH7167 their clothes,H8071 and ladedH6006 every manH376 his ass,H2543 and returnedH7725 to the city.H5892
And JudahH3063 and his brethrenH251 cameH935 to Joseph'sH3130 house;H1004 and he was yet there: and they fellH5307 before himH6440 on the ground.H776
And JosephH3130 saidH559 unto them, What deedH4639 is this that ye have done?H6213 know yeH3045 not that such a manH376 as I can indeedH5172 divine?H5172
And JudahH3063 said,H559 What shall we sayH559 unto my lord?H113 what shall we speak?H1696 or how shall we clear ourselves?H6663 GodH430 hath found outH4672 the iniquityH5771 of thy servants:H5650 behold, we are my lord'sH113 bondmen,H5650 both we, and he alsoH1571 in whoseH834 hand the cupH1375 is found.H4672
And he said,H559 Far be itH2486 from me that I should doH6213 so:H2063 the manH376 in whose handH3027 the cupH1375 is found,H4672 he shall be my bondman;H5650 but as for you, get you upH5927 in peaceH7965 unto your father.H1
Then JudahH3063 came nearH5066 unto him, and said,H559 Oh,H994 my lord,H113 let thy servant,H5650 I pray thee, speakH1696 a wordH1697 in my lord'sH113 ears,H241 and let not thine angerH639 burnH2734 against thy servant;H5650 for thou art even as Pharaoh.H6547
My lordH113 askedH7592 his servants,H5650 saying,H559 HaveH3426 ye a father,H1 or a brother?H251
And we saidH559 unto my lord,H113 We haveH3426 a father,H1 an old man,H2205 and a childH3206 of his old age,H2208 a little one;H6996 and his brotherH251 is dead,H4191 and he alone is leftH3498 of his mother;H517 and his fatherH1 lovethH157 him.
And thou saidstH559 unto thy servants,H5650 Bring him downH3381 unto me, that I may setH7760 mine eyesH5869 upon him.
And we saidH559 unto my lord,H113 The ladH5288 cannotH3201 leaveH5800 his father:H1 for if he should leaveH5800 his father,H1 his father would die.H4191
And thou saidstH559 unto thy servants,H5650 ExceptH3808 your youngestH6996 brotherH251 come downH3381 with you, ye shall seeH3254 my faceH6440 no more.H7200
And it came to pass when we came upH5927 unto thy servantH5650 my father,H1 we toldH5046 him the wordsH1697 of my lord.H113
And our fatherH1 said,H559 Go again,H7725 buyH7666 us a littleH4592 food.H400
And we said,H559 We cannotH3201 go down:H3381 if our youngestH6996 brotherH251 beH3426 with us, then will we go down;H3381 for we mayH3201 not seeH7200 the man'sH376 face,H6440 exceptH369 our youngestH6996 brotherH251 be with us.
And thy servantH5650 my fatherH1 saidH559 unto us, Ye knowH3045 that my wifeH802 bareH3205 me twoH8147 sons:
and the oneH259 went outH3318 from me, and I said,H559 SurelyH2963 he is torn in pieces;H2963 and I have not seen himH7200 since:H2008
and if ye takeH3947 this one also fromH5973 me,H6440 and harmH611 befall him,H7136 ye will bring downH3381 my gray hairsH7872 with sorrowH7451 to Sheol.H7585
Now therefore when I comeH935 to thy servantH5650 my father,H1 and the ladH5288 is not with us; seeing that his lifeH5315 is bound upH7194 in the lad's life;H5315
it will come to pass, when he seethH7200 that the ladH5288 is not [with us], that he will die:H4191 and thy servantsH5650 will bring downH3381 the gray hairsH7872 of thy servantH5650 our fatherH1 with sorrowH3015 to Sheol.H7585
For thy servantH5650 became suretyH6148 for the ladH5288 untoH5973 my father,H1 saying,H559 If I bringH935 him not unto thee, then shall I bear the blameH2398 to my fatherH1 for ever.H3117
Now therefore, let thy servant,H5650 I pray thee, abideH3427 instead of the ladH5288 a bondmanH5650 to my lord;H113 and let the ladH5288 go upH5927 with his brethren.H251
For howH349 shall I go upH5927 to my father,H1 if the ladH5288 be not with me? lest I seeH7200 the evilH7451 that shall come onH4672 my father.H1
