And the earth^H776 was corrupt^H7843 before^H6440 God,^H430 and the earth^H776 was filled^H4390 with violence.^H2555

Wickedness^H1942 is in the midst^H7130 thereof: Oppression^H8496 and guile^H4820 depart^H4185 not from its streets.^H7339

For the vineyard^H3754 of Jehovah^H3068 of hosts^H6635 is the house^H1004 of Israel,^H3478 and the men^H376 of Judah^H3063 his pleasant^H8191 plant:^H5194 and he looked^H6960 for justice,^H4941 but, behold, oppression;^H4939 for righteousness,^H6666 but, behold, a cry.^H6818

Woe^H1945 to the rebellious^H5637 children,^H1121 saith^H5002 Jehovah,^H3068 that take^H6213 counsel,^H6098 but not of me; and that make^H5258 a league,^H4541 but not of my Spirit,^H7307 that they may add^H5595 sin^H2403 to sin,^H2403

I will declare^H5046 thy righteousness;^H6666 and as for thy works,^H4639 they shall not profit^H3276 thee.

For we are all become as one that is unclean,^H2931 and all our righteousnesses^H6666 are as a polluted^H5708 garment:^H899 and we all do fade^H5034 as a leaf;^H5929 and our iniquities,^H5771 like the wind,^H7307 take us away.^H5375

Violence^H2555 is risen up^H6965 into a rod^H4294 of wickedness;^H7562 none of them [shall remain], nor of their multitude,^H1995 nor of their wealth:^H1991 neither shall there be eminency^H5089 among them.

Then said^H559 he unto me, The iniquity^H5771 of the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 and Judah^H3063 is exceeding^H3966 great,^H1419 and the land^H776 is full^H4390 of blood,^H1818 and the city^H5892 full^H4390 of wresting^H4297 [of judgment]: for they say,^H559 Jehovah^H3068 hath forsaken^H5800 the land,^H776 and Jehovah^H3068 seeth^H7200 not.

—ye that put far away^H5077 the evil^H7451 day,^H3117 and cause the seat^H7675 of violence^H2555 to come near;^H5066

But of late^H865 my people^H5971 is risen up^H6965 as an enemy:^H341 ye strip^H6584 the robe^H145 from off^H4136 the garment^H8008 from them that pass^H5674 by securely^H983 [as men] averse^H7725 from war.^H4421

For the rich men^H6223 thereof are full^H4390 of violence,^H2555 and the inhabitants^H3427 thereof have spoken^H1696 lies,^H8267 and their tongue^H3956 is deceitful^H7423 in their mouth.^H6310

And in that day^H3117 I will punish^H6485 all those that leap^H1801 over the threshold,^H4670 that fill^H4390 their master's^H113 house^H1004 with violence^H2555 and deceit.^H4820

Her princes^H8269 in the midst^H7130 of her are roaring^H7580 lions;^H738 her judges^H8199 are evening^H6153 wolves;^H2061 they leave nothing^H1633 till the morrow.^H1242

Even as^G2509 David^G1138 also^G2532 pronounceth^G3004 blessing^G3108 upon the man,^G444 unto whom^G3739 God^G2316 reckoneth^G3049 righteousness^G1343 apart^G5565 from works,^G2041
