M y son,H1121 attendH7181 unto my wisdom;H2451 InclineH5186 thine earH241 to my understanding:H8394

That thou mayest preserveH8104 discretion,H4209 And that thy lipsH8193 may keepH5341 knowledge.H1847

For the lipsH8193 of a strange womanH2114 dropH5197 honey,H5317 And her mouthH2441 is smootherH2509 than oil:H8081

But in the endH319 she is bitterH4751 as wormwood,H3939 SharpH2299 as a two-edgedH6310 sword.H2719

Her feetH7272 go downH3381 to death;H4194 Her stepsH6806 take holdH8551 on Sheol;H7585

So that she findethH6424 not the level pathH734 of life:H2416 Her waysH4570 are unstable,H5128 [and] she knowethH3045 [it] not.

Now therefore, [my] sons,H1121 hearkenH8085 unto me, And departH5493 not from the wordsH561 of my mouth.H6310

RemoveH7368 thy wayH1870 farH7368 from her, And come not nighH7126 the doorH6607 of her house;H1004

Lest thou giveH5414 thine honorH1935 unto others,H312 And thy yearsH8141 unto the cruel;H394

Lest strangersH2114 be filledH7646 with thy strength,H3581 And thy laborsH6089 [be] in the houseH1004 of an alien,H5237

And thou mournH5098 at thy latterH319 end, When thy fleshH1320 and thy bodyH1320 are consumed,H3615

And say,H559 How have I hatedH8130 instruction,H4148 And my heartH3820 despisedH5006 reproof;H8433

Neither have I obeyedH8085 the voiceH6963 of my teachers,H3384 Nor inclinedH5186 mine earH241 to them that instructedH3925 me!

I was well-nighH4592 in all evilH7451 In the midstH8432 of the assemblyH6951 and congregation.H6951

DrinkH8354 watersH4325 out of thine own cistern,H953 And running watersH5140 out ofH8432 thine own well.H875

Should thy springsH4599 be dispersedH6327 abroad,H2351 And streamsH6388 of waterH4325 in the streets?H7339

Let them be for thyself alone, And not for strangersH2114 with thee.

Let thy fountainH4726 be blessed;H1288 And rejoiceH8055 in the wifeH802 of thy youth.H5271

[ As] a lovingH158 hindH365 and a pleasantH2580 doe,H365 Let her breastsH1717 satisfyH7301 thee at all times;H6256 And be thou ravishedH7686 alwaysH8548 with her love.H160

For why shouldest thou, my son,H1121 be ravishedH7686 with a strange woman,H2114 And embraceH2263 the bosomH2436 of a foreigner?H5237

For the waysH1870 of manH376 are beforeH5227 the eyesH5869 of Jehovah;H3068 And he maketh levelH6424 all his paths.H4570

His own iniquitiesH5771 shall takeH3920 the wicked,H7563 And he shall be holdenH8551 with the cordsH2256 of his sin.H2403

He shall dieH4191 for lack of instruction;H4148 And in the greatnessH7230 of his follyH200 he shall go astray.H7686
