M y son,H1121 keepH8104 my words,H561 And lay upH6845 my commandmentsH4687 with thee.

KeepH8104 my commandmentsH4687 and live;H2421 And my lawH8451 as the appleH380 of thine eye.H5869

BindH7194 them upon thy fingers;H676 WriteH3789 them upon the tabletH3871 of thy heart.H3820

SayH559 unto wisdom,H2451 Thou art my sister;H269 And callH7121 understandingH998 [thy] kinswoman:H4129

That they may keepH8104 thee from the strangeH2114 woman,H802 From the foreignerH5237 that flatterethH2505 with her words.H561

For at the windowH2474 of my houseH1004 I lookedH8259 forth through my lattice;H822

And I beheldH7200 among the simple ones,H6612 I discernedH995 among the youths,H1121 A young manH5288 voidH2638 of understanding,H3820

Passing throughH5674 the streetH7784 nearH681 her corner;H6434 And he wentH6805 the wayH1870 to her house,H1004

In the twilight,H5399 in the eveningH3117 of the day, In the middleH380 of the nightH3915 and in the darkness.H653

And, behold, there metH7125 him a womanH802 With the attireH7897 of a harlot,H2181 and wilyH5341 of heart.H3820

(She is clamorousH1993 and wilful;H5637 Her feetH7272 abideH7931 not in her house:H1004

NowH6471 she is in the streets,H7339 nowH6471 in the broadH7339 places, And lieth in waitH693 atH681 every corner.)H6438

So she caughtH2388 him, and kissedH5401 him, [And] with an impudentH5810 faceH6440 she saidH559 unto him:

SacrificesH8002 of peace-offeringsH2077 are with me; This dayH3117 have I paidH7999 my vows.H5088

Therefore came I forthH3318 to meetH7125 thee, Diligently to seekH7836 thy face,H6440 and I have foundH4672 thee.

I have spreadH7234 my couchH6210 with carpetsH4765 of tapestry, With stripedH2405 cloths of the yarnH330 of Egypt.H4714

I have perfumedH5130 my bedH4904 With myrrh,H4753 aloes,H174 and cinnamon.H7076

Come,H3212 let us take our fillH7301 of loveH1730 until the morning;H1242 Let us solaceH5965 ourselves with loves.H159

For the manH376 is not at home;H1004 He is goneH1980 a longH7350 journey:H1870

He hath takenH3947 a bagH6872 of moneyH3701 with him;H3027 He will comeH935 homeH1004 at the fullH3117 moon.H3677

With her muchH7230 fair speechH3948 she causeth him to yield;H5186 With the flatteringH2506 of her lipsH8193 she forcethH5080 him along.

He goethH1980 afterH310 her straightway,H6597 As an oxH7794 goethH935 to the slaughter,H2874 Or as [one in] fettersH5914 to the correctionH4148 of the fool;H191

Till an arrowH2671 strikeH6398 through his liver;H3516 As a birdH6833 hastethH4116 to the snare,H6341 And knowethH3045 not that it is for his life.H5315

Now therefore, [my] sons,H1121 hearkenH8085 unto me, And attendH7181 to the wordsH561 of my mouth.H6310

Let not thy heartH3820 declineH7847 to her ways;H1870 Go not astrayH8582 in her paths.H5410

For she hath cast downH5307 manyH7227 wounded:H2491 Yea, all her slainH2026 are a mightyH6099 host.

Her houseH1004 is the wayH1870 to Sheol,H7585 Going downH3381 to the chambersH2315 of death.H4194
