A Psalm of Asaph. Surely GodH430 is goodH2896 to Israel,H3478 [Even] to such as are pureH1249 in heart.H3824
But as for me, my feetH7272 were almostH4592 gone;H5186 My stepsH838 had well nighH369 slipped.H8210
For I was enviousH7065 at the arrogant,H1984 When I sawH7200 the prosperityH7965 of the wicked.H7563
For there are no pangsH2784 in their death;H4194 But their strengthH193 is firm.H1277
They are not in troubleH5999 as [other] men;H582 Neither are they plaguedH5060 likeH5973 [other] men.H120
Therefore prideH1346 is as a chainH6059 about their neck; ViolenceH2555 coverethH5848 them as a garment.H7897
Their eyesH5869 stand outH3318 with fatness:H2459 They have moreH5674 than heartH3824 could wish.H4906
They scoff,H4167 and in wickednessH7451 utterH1696 oppression:H6233 They speakH1696 loftily.H4791
They have setH8371 their mouthH6310 in the heavens,H8064 And their tongueH3956 walkethH1980 through the earth.H776
Therefore his peopleH5971 returnH7725 hither:H1988 And watersH4325 of a fullH4392 [cup] are drainedH4680 by them.
And they say,H559 How doth GodH410 know?H3045 And is thereH3426 knowledgeH1844 in the Most High?H5945
Behold, these are the wicked;H7563 And, being alwayH5769 at ease,H7961 they increaseH7685 in riches.H2428
Surely in vainH7385 have I cleansedH2135 my heart,H3824 And washedH7364 my handsH3709 in innocency;H5356
For all the dayH3117 long have I been plagued,H5060 And chastenedH8433 every morning.H1242
If I had said,H559 I will speakH559 thus;H3644 Behold, I had dealt treacherouslyH898 with the generationH1755 of thy children.H1121
When I thoughtH2803 how I might knowH3045 this, It was too painfulH5999 for me;H5869
Until I wentH935 into the sanctuaryH4720 of God,H410 And consideredH995 their latter end.H319
Surely thou settestH7896 them in slippery places:H2513 Thou castest them downH5307 to destruction.H4876
How are they become a desolationH8047 in a moment!H7281 They are utterlyH5486 consumedH8552 with terrors.H1091
As a dreamH2472 when one awaketh,H6974 So, O Lord,H136 when thou awakest,H5782 thou wilt despiseH959 their image.H6754
For my soulH3824 was grieved,H2556 And I was prickedH8150 in my heart:H3629
So brutishH1198 was I, and ignorant;H3045 I was [as] a beastH929 before thee.
Nevertheless I am continuallyH8548 with thee: Thou hast holdenH270 my rightH3225 hand.H3027
Thou wilt guideH5148 me with thy counsel,H6098 And afterwardH310 receiveH3947 me to glory.H3519
Whom have I in heavenH8064 [but thee]? And there is none upon earthH776 that I desireH2654 besides thee.
My fleshH7607 and my heartH3824 faileth;H3615 [But] GodH430 is the strengthH6697 of my heartH3824 and my portionH2506 for ever.H5769
For, lo, they that are farH7369 from thee shall perish:H6 Thou hast destroyedH6789 all them that play the harlot,H2181 [departing] from thee.
ButH589 it is goodH2896 for me to draw nearH7132 unto God:H430 I have madeH7896 the LordH136 JehovahH136 my refuge,H4268 That I may tellH5608 of all thy works.H4399
