And his brethren enuied him, but his father noted the saying.

Also I beheld all trauaile, & all perfection of workes that this is ye enuie of a man against his neighbour: this also is vanitie & vexation of spirit.

Wo therefore be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites, because ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: for ye your selues go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in.

Nowe the elder brother was in the fielde, and when he came and drewe neere to the house, he heard melodie, and dauncing,

Then there arose certaine of the Synagogue, which are called Libertines, and Cyrenians, and of Alexandria, & of them of Cilicia, and of Asia, and disputed with Steuen.

And when they resisted and blasphemed, he shooke his raiment, & saide vnto them, Your blood be vpon your owne head: I am cleane: from henceforth will I goe vnto the Gentiles.

Being full of all vnrighteousnesse, fornication, wickednes, couetousnes, maliciousnes, full of enuie, of murther, of debate, of deceit, taking all things in the euill part, whisperers,

Enuie, murthers, drunkennesse, gluttonie, and such like, whereof I tell you before, as I also haue tolde you before, that they which doe such things, shall not inherite the kingdome of God.

But if ye haue bitter enuying and strife in your hearts, reioyce not, neither be liars against the trueth.

Wherein it seemeth to them strange, that yee runne not with them vnto the same excesse of riot: therefore speake they euill of you,
