Then Iezebel sent a messenger vnto Eliiah, saying, The gods doe so to me and more also, if I make not thy life like one of their liues by to morowe this time.

There was a man in the lande of Vz called Iob, & this man was an vpright and iust man, one that feared God, and eschewed euill.

My flesh trembleth for feare of thee, and I am afraide of thy iudgements.
Be not wise in thine owne eyes: but feare the Lord, and depart from euill.
By mercy and trueth iniquitie shalbe forgiuen, and by the feare of the Lorde they depart from euill.
A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
If a wise man contend with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there is no rest.
For Herod him selfe had sent forth, & had taken Iohn, and bound him in prison for Herodias sake, which was his brother Philippes wife, because he had maried her.
And some of the Pharises which were with him, heard these things, & sayd vnto him, Are we blinde also?
