¶ And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou [art] a fair woman to look upon:
And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was [a] goodly [person], and well favoured.
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.
And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
¶ And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name [was] Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
¶ I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
¶ Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Favour [is] deceitful, and beauty [is] vain: [but] a woman [that] feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
‹But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.›
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, ‹What, could ye not watch with me one hour?›
¶ Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.
For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
