And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I [am] the LORD.
And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.
¶ But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, [as] the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
¶ But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or [that] thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
Say unto God, How terrible [art thou in] thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.
There [is] little Benjamin [with] their ruler, the princes of Judah [and] their council, the princes of Zebulun, [and] the princes of Naphtali.
¶ Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
One shall say, I [am] the LORD'S; and another shall call [himself] by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe [with] his hand unto the LORD, and surname [himself] by the name of Israel.
Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that [are] far from righteousness:
Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah [that] bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.
The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn [to be] meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:
And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship [and] that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;
‹This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with› [their] ‹lips; but their heart is far from me.›
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, ‹Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!›
¶ Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
¶ Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they [are] not all Israel, which are of Israel:
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
‹I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and› [I know] ‹the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but› [are] ‹the synagogue of Satan.›
