Samuel Anoints Saul Then Samuel took a small container of olive oil and poured it on Saul’s head. Samuel kissed him and said,“The LORD has chosen you to lead his people Israel! In the past, when Saul was our king, you were the real leader in Israel. The LORD said to you,‘You will shepherd my people Israel; you will rule over Israel.’”
Nathan said to David,“You are that man! This is what the LORD God of Israel has said:‘I chose you to be king over Israel and I rescued you from the hand of Saul.
“So now, say this to my servant David:‘This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says:“I took you from the pasture and from your work as a shepherd to make you a leader of my people Israel.
Then the LORD took me from tending flocks and gave me this commission,‘Go! Prophesy to my people Israel!’
