Strengthen the hands that have gone limp, steady the knees that shake!

“For this reason I am sending you prophets and wise men and experts in the law, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town,

‘And in the last days it will be,’ God says,‘that I will pour out my Spirit on all people, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with devoted hearts,

The Church at Antioch Commissions Barnabas and Saul Now there were these prophets and teachers in the church at Antioch: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen(a close friend of Herod the tetrarch from childhood) and Saul.

The Jerusalem Council Now some men came down from Judea and began to teach the brothers,“Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

He passed through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

After he had gone through those regions and spoken many words of encouragement to the believers there, he came to Greece,

if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.

And God has placed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, gifts of healing, helps, gifts of leadership, different kinds of tongues.

Two or three prophets should speak and the others should evaluate what is said.

As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his own children,

A Life Pleasing to God Finally then, brothers and sisters, we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about how you must live and please God(as you are in fact living) that you do so more and more.

Do not treat prophecies with contempt.

Prayer for All People First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people,

Encourage younger men likewise to be self-controlled,

And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
