“You must not follow a crowd in doing evil things; in a lawsuit you must not offer testimony that agrees with a crowd so as to pervert justice,

Because he wanted to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them. Then, after he had Jesus flogged, he handed him over to be crucified.

Paul Appeals to Caesar Now three days after Festus arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.

But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor, asked Paul,“Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and be tried before me there on these charges?”

As Paul was saying these things in his defense, Festus exclaimed loudly,“You have lost your mind, Paul! Your great learning is driving you insane!”

Paul lived there two whole years in his own rented quarters and welcomed all who came to him,
