Who can make a clean thing come from an unclean? No one!

How then can a human being be righteous before God? How can one born of a woman be pure?

“I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill.”

This is what the LORD, the protector of Israel, their Holy One, says to the one who is despised and rejected by nations, a servant of rulers:“Kings will see and rise in respect, princes will bow down, because of the faithful LORD, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”

The Lord Will Rejuvenate His People The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has chosen me. He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the release of captives, and the freeing of prisoners,

The Escape to Egypt After they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said,“Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to look for the child to kill him.”

“Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the experts in the law. They will condemn him to death,

Judgment on Israel“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would have none of it!

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were trying to find false testimony against Jesus so that they could put him to death.

Jesus and Pilate Then Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him,“Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus said,“You say so.”

“Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and experts in the law. They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles.

Betrayal and Arrest Right away, while Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived. With him came a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and experts in the law and elders.

In the same way even the chief priests– together with the experts in the law– were mocking him among themselves:“He saved others, but he cannot save himself!

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed,

Going to Jerusalem At that time, some Pharisees came up and said to Jesus,“Get away from here, because Herod wants to kill you.”

Then the owner of the vineyard said,‘What should I do? I will send my one dear son; perhaps they will respect him.’

Betrayal and Arrest While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd appeared, and the man named Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He walked up to Jesus to kiss him.

When he learned that he was from Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who also happened to be in Jerusalem at that time.

do you say about the one whom the Father set apart and sent into the world,‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said,‘I am the Son of God’?

Jesus Questioned by Annas While this was happening, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.

But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water flowed out immediately.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate after he had decided to release him.

with respect to Jesus from Nazareth, that God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.
