TSK · Ecclesiastes 5:2

Then Abraham said,“May the Lord not be angry so that I may speak! What if thirty are found there?” He replied,“I will not do it if I find thirty there.”

Then Jacob made a vow, saying,“If God is with me and protects me on this journey I am taking and gives me food to eat and clothing to wear,

or when a person swears an oath, speaking thoughtlessly with his lips, whether to do evil or to do good, with regard to anything which the individual might speak thoughtlessly in an oath, even if he did not realize it, but he himself has later come to know it and is guilty with regard to one of these oaths–

Jephthah made a vow to the LORD, saying,“If you really do hand the Ammonites over to me,

Our God is in heaven! He does whatever he pleases!

It is a snare for a person to rashly cry,“Holy!” and only afterward to consider what he has vowed.

Just as there is futility in many dreams, so also in many words. Therefore, fear God!

At the beginning his words are foolish and at the end his talk is wicked madness,

When you pray, do not babble repetitiously like the Gentiles, because they think that by their many words they will be heard.

He swore to her,“Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”
