When Pharaoh got closer, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians marching after them, and they were terrified. The Israelites cried out to the LORD,

Then Moses cried out to the LORD,“What will I do with this people?– a little more and they will stone me!”

The people said to Joshua,“No! We really will worship the LORD.

They were left to test Israel, so the LORD would know if his people would obey the commands he gave their ancestors through Moses.

He said,“Get some flour.” Then he threw it into the pot and said,“Now pour some out for the men so they may eat.” There was no longer anything harmful in the pot.

For you, O God, tested us; you purified us like refined silver.

When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.

The crucible is for refining silver and the furnace is for gold, likewise the LORD tests hearts.

Then the LORD said to me,“Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I would not feel pity for them! Get them away from me! Tell them to go away!
