Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came and began to draw water and fill the troughs in order to water their father’s flock.

Moses agreed to stay with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage.

The Return of Moses So Moses went back to his father-in-law Jethro and said to him,“Let me go, so that I may return to my relatives in Egypt and see if they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses,“Go in peace.”

The Appeal to Hobab Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel, the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law,“We are journeying to the place about which the LORD said,‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things for Israel.”

They told him,“Your subjects have come from a very distant land because of the reputation of the LORD your God, for we have heard the news about all he did in Egypt

I will boast in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice!

You are the God who does amazing things; you have revealed your strength among the nations.

He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of their reproductive power.

Who can adequately recount the LORD’s mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?

to the one who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, for his loyal love endures,

All the nations will hear about all the good things which I will do to them. This city will bring me fame, honor, and praise before them for the joy that I bring it. The nations will tremble in awe at all the peace and prosperity that I will provide for it.’

This same Moses they had rejected, saying,‘Who made you a ruler and judge?’ God sent as both ruler and deliverer through the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
