So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. It was so.

Then Joseph said to his brothers,“I am about to die. But God will surely come to you and lead you up from this land to the land he swore on oath to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

God saw the Israelites, and God understood.

“that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

and the people believed. When they heard that the LORD had attended to the Israelites and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed down close to the ground.

The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will seize the inhabitants of Philistia.

But he did not lay a hand on the leaders of the Israelites, so they saw God, and they ate and they drank.

Of what importance is the human race, that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, that you should pay attention to them?

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people met together in the palace of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas.

They will demolish you– you and your children within your walls– and they will not leave within you one stone on top of another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”

Simeon has explained how God first concerned himself to select from among the Gentiles a people for his name.
