Then the LORD said,“I have forgiven them as you asked.

The Weakness of Other Gods“I said,‘I want to cut them in pieces. I want to make people forget they ever existed.

When the LORD raised up leaders for them, the LORD was with each leader and delivered the people from their enemies while the leader remained alive. The LORD felt sorry for them when they cried out in agony because of what their harsh oppressors did to them.

God sent an angel to ravage Jerusalem. As he was doing so, the LORD watched and relented from his judgment. He told the angel who was destroying,“That’s enough! Stop now!” Now the LORD’s angel was standing near the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

He remembered his covenant with them, and relented because of his great loyal love.

But correct the way you have been living and do what is right. Obey the LORD your God. If you do, the LORD will forgo destroying you as he threatened he would.

Joel 2:13 TSK
