Jacob sent messengers on ahead to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the region of Edom.

The Descendants of Esau What follows is the account of Esau(also known as Edom).

chief Magdiel, chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they possessed. This was Esau, the father of the Edomites.

and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I assigned Mount Seir, while Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.

The Ammonites and Moabites attacked the men from Mount Seir and annihilated them. When they had finished off the men of Seir, they attacked and destroyed one another.

¶ God’s Judgment on Edom The vision that Obadiah saw. The Sovereign LORD says this concerning Edom: Edom’s Approaching Destruction We have heard a report from the LORD. An envoy was sent among the nations, saying,“Arise! Let us make war against Edom!”

and rejected Esau. I turned Esau’s mountains into a deserted wasteland and gave his territory to the wild jackals.”
