So God said to Noah,“I have decided that all living creatures must die, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Now I am about to destroy them and the earth.

So the LORD destroyed every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, including people, animals, creatures that creep along the ground, and birds of the sky. They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark survived.

Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who were going to marry his daughters. He said,“Quick, get out of this place because the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was ridiculing them.

So she left him and closed the door behind her and her sons. As they were bringing the containers to her, she was pouring the olive oil.

A shrewd person saw danger and hid himself, but the naive passed on by and paid for it.

“Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you must give them a warning from me.

Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, they could not save their own son or daughter; they would save only their own lives by their righteousness.

The people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them– and now, something greater than Jonah is here!

Remember, I have told you ahead of time.

The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon– and now, something greater than Solomon is here!

For the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written,“The righteous by faith will live.”

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, so that he would become the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised, that they too could have righteousness credited to them.
