That entire generation passed away; a new generation grew up that had not personally experienced the LORD’s presence or seen what he had done for Israel.

Your sin inspires your mouth; you choose the language of the crafty.

You do damage with words, and use your tongue to deceive.

Their tongues wound like a serpent; a viper’s venom is behind their lips.(Selah)

The plans of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

They help one another; one says to the other,‘Be strong!’

Because of the long distance you must travel, you get tired, but you do not say,‘I give up.’ You get renewed energy, so you don’t collapse.

The LORD answered,“This will happen because my people are foolish. They do not know me. They are like children who have no sense. They have no understanding. They are skilled at doing evil. They do not know how to do good.”

Their tongues are like deadly arrows. They are always telling lies. Friendly words for their neighbors come from their mouths. But their minds are thinking up ways to trap them.

“My people, how have I wronged you? How have I wearied you? Answer me!

Be sure of this! The LORD of Heaven’s Armies has decreed: The nations’ efforts will go up in smoke; their exhausting work will be for nothing.
