Asa was so angry at the prophet, he put him in jail. Asa also oppressed some of the people at that time.

“Therefore, blessed is the man whom God corrects, so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.

His bones were full of his youthful vigor, but that vigor will lie down with him in the dust.

Night pierces my bones; my gnawing pains never cease.

For my sins overwhelm me; like a heavy load, they are too much for me to bear.

Before I was afflicted I used to stray off, but now I keep your instructions.

For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, for the oppression of the king is severe upon his victim.

Were the nations whom my predecessors destroyed– the nations of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden in Telassar– rescued by their gods?

All those I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent!
