¶ The Prologue to the Gospel In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God.

So he told them,“My Father is working until now, and I too am working.”

For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.

Then Jesus, while teaching in the temple courts, cried out,“You both know me and know where I come from! And I have not come on my own initiative, but the one who sent me is true. You do not know him,

I am telling you the things I have seen while with the Father; as for you, practice the things you have heard from the Father!”

The Father and I are one.”

and the one who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

You will know at that time that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you.

that they will all be one, just as you, Father, are in me and I am in you. I pray that they will be in us, so that the world will believe that you sent me.

In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given us the message of reconciliation.

For in him all the fullness of deity lives in bodily form,
