He left those nations simply because he wanted to teach the subsequent generations of Israelites, who had not experienced the earlier battles, how to conduct holy war.

You ascend on high, you have taken many captives. You receive tribute from men, including even sinful rebels. Indeed the LORD God lives there!

For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Amazing Adviser, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people with whom he is pleased!”

Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.

and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.

They strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying,“We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.”

And now I advise you to keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only the ship will be lost.

The Expectation of Justification Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Thanksgiving for God’s Comfort Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

Final Exhortations and Greetings Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, set things right, be encouraged, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

For in fact when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we would suffer affliction, and so it has happened, as you well know.

Conclusion Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Benediction and Conclusion Now may the God of peace who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus,

I will grant the one who conquers permission to sit with me on my throne, just as I too conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
