Jesus is Condemned and Mocked When Pilate saw that he could do nothing, but that instead a riot was starting, he took some water, washed his hands before the crowd and said,“I am innocent of this man’s blood. You take care of it yourselves!”

Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds,“I find no basis for an accusation against this man.”

Again Pilate went out and said to the Jewish leaders,“Look, I am bringing him out to you, so that you may know that I find no reason for an accusation against him.”

Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate,“Do not write,‘The king of the Jews,’ but rather,‘This man said, I am king of the Jews.’”

Now when they heard about the resurrection from the dead, some began to scoff, but others said,“We will hear you again about this.”

but by precious blood like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ.
