“Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I chose you. Before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”
Then the LORD took me from tending flocks and gave me this commission,‘Go! Prophesy to my people Israel!’
To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
It is like a man going on a journey. He left his house and put his slaves in charge, assigning to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert.
And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.
Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.
For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been in vain. In fact, I worked harder than all of them– yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle– I am telling the truth; I am not lying– and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or the slightest hint of change.
