Now Jacob’s sons had come in from the field when they heard the news. They were offended and very angry because Shechem had disgraced Israel by sexually assaulting Jacob’s daughter, a crime that should not be committed.

“‘This is the law for cases of jealousy, when a wife, while under her husband’s authority, goes astray and defiles herself,

But, you have been unfaithful to me, nation of Israel, like an unfaithful wife who has left her husband,” says the LORD.

“‘Therefore O prostitute, Listen to the LORD’s message:

He said to her,“Go call your husband and come back here.”

To the married I give this command– not I, but the Lord– a wife should not divorce a husband
