who shows no partiality to princes, and does not take note of the rich more than the poor, because all of them are the work of his hands?

His words are as smooth as butter, but he harbors animosity in his heart. His words seem softer than oil, but they are really like sharp swords.

They sent to him their disciples along with the Herodians, saying,“Teacher, we know that you are truthful, and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You do not court anyone’s favor because you show no partiality.

When they came they said to him,“Teacher, we know that you are truthful and do not court anyone’s favor, because you show no partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”

Then Peter started speaking:“I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people,

Am I now trying to gain the approval of people, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ!

but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we declare it, not to please people but God, who examines our hearts.
