He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.

saying,“I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said,“What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”
He asked,“Why? What wrong has he done?” But they shouted more insistently,“Crucify him!”
Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds,“I find no basis for an accusation against this man.”
But they kept on shouting,“Crucify, crucify him!”
And we rightly so, for we are getting what we deserve for what we did, but this man has done nothing wrong.”
Pilate asked,“What is truth?” When he had said this he went back outside to the Jewish leaders and announced,“I find no basis for an accusation against him.
From this point on, Pilate tried to release him. But the Jewish leaders shouted out,“If you release this man, you are no friend of Caesar! Everyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar!”
But when they recognized that he was a Jew, they all shouted in unison,“Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” for about two hours.
For it is indeed fitting for us to have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
