You prove to be loyal to one who is faithful; you prove to be trustworthy to one who is innocent.
For the music director; a psalm of David. How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly! When trouble comes, may the LORD deliver him.
He generously gives to the needy; his integrity endures. He will be vindicated and honored.
The one who despises his neighbor sins, but whoever is kind to the needy is blessed.
The godly perish, but no one cares. Honest people disappear, when no one minds that the godly disappear because of evil.
Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you. Break away from your sins by doing what is right, and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps your prosperity will be prolonged.”
Then you will call your brother,“My People”(Ammi)! You will call your sister,“Pity”(Ruhamah)!
He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the LORD really wants from you: He wants you to carry out justice, to love faithfulness, and to live obediently before your God.
Should you not have shown mercy to your fellow slave, just as I showed it to you?’
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people.
Remaining Unmarried With regard to the question about people who have never married, I have no command from the Lord, but I give my opinion as one shown mercy by the Lord to be trustworthy.
Instead, be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.
even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor, and an arrogant man. But I was treated with mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief,
May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my imprisonment.
For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical.
