They say to the visionaries,“See no more visions!” and to the seers,“Don’t relate messages to us about what is right! Tell us nice things; relate deceptive messages.

They offer only superficial help for the hurt my dear people have suffered. They say,“Everything will be all right!” But everything is not all right!

Now there was another man who prophesied as the LORD’s representative against this city and this land just as Jeremiah did. His name was Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath Jearim.

“Son of man, turn toward the south, and speak out against the south. Prophesy against the open scrub land of the Negev,

“But you made the Nazirites drink wine; you commanded the prophets,‘Do not prophesy!’

Be certain of this, the time is coming,” says the Sovereign LORD,“when I will send a famine through the land– not a shortage of food or water but an end to divine revelation!

But to keep this matter from spreading any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to anyone in this name.”
