Rules for the Priests The LORD said to Moses:“Say to the priests, the sons of Aaron– say to them,‘For a dead person no priest is to defile himself among his people,

No man from the descendants of Aaron who is diseased or has a discharge may eat the holy offerings until he becomes clean. The one who touches anything made unclean by contact with a dead person, or a man who has a seminal emission,

“‘All the days that he separates himself to the LORD he must not contact a dead body.

“Tell the Israelites,‘If any of you or of your posterity become ceremonially defiled by touching a dead body, or are on a journey far away, then he may observe the Passover to the LORD.

Purification After Battle“Any of you who has killed anyone or touched any of the dead, remain outside the camp for seven days; purify yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.

For seven months Israel will bury them, in order to cleanse the land.

Then Haggai asked,“If a person who is ritually unclean because of touching a dead body comes in contact with one of these items, will it become unclean?” The priests answered,“It will be unclean.”

Therefore“come out from their midst, and be separate,” says the Lord,“and touch no unclean thing, and I will welcome you,

how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our consciences from dead works to worship the living God.
