Individuals Are Challenged to Put Their Trust in the Lord The LORD says,“I will put a curse on people who trust in mere human beings, who depend on mere flesh and blood for their strength, and whose hearts have turned away from the LORD.

And again Isaiah says,“The root of Jesse will come, and the one who rises to rule over the Gentiles, in him will the Gentiles hope.”

For this reason, I have sent Timothy to you, who is my dear and faithful son in the Lord. He will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church.

Farewell Comments Tychicus, my dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make everything known to you, so that you too may know about my circumstances, how I am doing.

So I hope to send him as soon as I know more about my situation,

I sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are doing and that he may encourage your hearts.

But now Timothy has come to us from you and given us the good news of your faith and love and that you always think of us with affection and long to see us just as we also long to see you!

Because of this, in fact, I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, because I know the one in whom my faith is set and I am convinced that he is able to protect what has been entrusted to me until that day.

You ought to say instead,“If the Lord is willing, then we will live and do this or that.”

For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, just as you are living according to the truth.
