Visit King David and say to him,‘My master, O king, did you not solemnly promise your servant,“Surely your son Solomon will be king after me; he will sit on my throne”? So why has Adonijah become king?’

David said,“My son Solomon is just an inexperienced young man, and the temple to be built for the LORD must be especially magnificent so it will become famous and be considered splendid by all the nations. Therefore I will make preparations for its construction.” So David made extensive preparations before he died.

LORD, we know that people do not control their own destiny. It is not in their power to determine what will happen to them.

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.
