Paul Defends His Changed Plans For our reason for confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity which are from God– not by human wisdom but by the grace of God– we conducted ourselves in the world, and all the more toward you.

As the truth of Christ is in me, this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of Achaia.

Have you been thinking all this time that we have been defending ourselves to you? We are speaking in Christ before God, and everything we do, dear friends, is to build you up.

For God is my witness that I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

But the aim of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.

Before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, I solemnly charge you to carry out these commands without prejudice or favoritism of any kind.
