But the people^H5971 refused^H3985 to hearken^H8085 unto the voice^H6963 of Samuel;^H8050 and they said,^H559 Nay: but we will have a king^H4428 over us,

But he walked^H3212 in the way^H1870 of the kings^H4428 of Israel,^H3478 yea, and made his son^H1121 to pass through^H5674 the fire,^H784 according to the abominations^H8441 of the nations,^H1471 whom Jehovah^H3068 cast out^H3423 from before^H6440 the children^H1121 of Israel.^H3478

but they mocked^H3931 the messengers^H4397 of God,^H430 and despised^H959 his words,^H1697 and scoffed^H8591 at his prophets,^H5030 until the wrath^H2534 of Jehovah^H3068 arose^H5927 against his people,^H5971 till there was no remedy.^H4832

Nevertheless they were disobedient,^H4784 and rebelled^H4775 against thee, and cast^H7993 thy law^H8451 behind^H310 their back,^H1458 and slew^H2026 thy prophets^H5030 that testified^H5749 against them to turn^H7725 them again unto thee, and they wrought^H6213 great^H1419 provocations.^H5007

The wicked^H7563 walk^H1980 on every side,^H5439 When vileness^H2149 is exalted^H7311 among the sons of men.^H1121

If a ruler^H4910 hearkeneth^H7181 to falsehood,^H1697 All his servants^H8334 are wicked.^H7563

Therefore thus saith^H559 the Lord^H136 Jehovah:^H3069 Because ye are turbulent^H1995 more than the nations^H1471 that are round about^H5439 you, and have not walked^H1980 in my statutes,^H2708 neither have kept^H6213 mine ordinances,^H4941 neither have done^H6213 after the ordinances^H4941 of the nations^H1471 that are round about^H5439 you;

Yet hast thou not walked^H1980 in their ways,^H1870 nor done^H6213 after their abominations;^H8441 but, as [if that were] a very^H6985 little^H4592 [thing], thou wast more corrupt^H7843 than they^H2004 in all thy ways.^H1870

And thou shalt say,^H559 Thus saith^H559 the Lord^H136 Jehovah:^H136 A city^H5892 that sheddeth^H8210 blood^H1818 in the midst^H8432 of her, that her time^H6256 may come,^H935 and that maketh^H6213 idols^H1544 against herself to defile^H2930 her!

neither have we obeyed^H8085 the voice^H6963 of Jehovah^H3068 our God,^H430 to walk^H3212 in his laws,^H8451 which he set^H5414 before^H6440 us by^H3027 his servants^H5650 the prophets.^H5030

O Jerusalem,^G2419 Jerusalem,^G2419 that^G3588 killeth^G615 the prophets,^G4396 and^G2532 stoneth^G3036 them that^G3588 are sent^G649 unto^G4314 her!^G846 how often^G4212 would^G2309 I have gathered^G1996 thy^G4675 children^G5043 together,^G1996 even as^G3739 a^G5158 hen^G3733 [gathereth] her^G1438 own brood^G3555 under^G5259 her wings,^G4420 and^G2532 ye would^G2309 not!^G3756

To him therefore^G3767 that knoweth^G1492 to do^G4160 good,^G2570 and^G2532 doeth^G4160 it not,^G3361 to him^G846 it is^G2076 sin.^G266
