Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek^H139 king^H4428 of Jerusalem^H3389 heard^H8085 how^H3588 Joshua^H3091 had taken^H3920 Ai,^H5857 and had utterly destroyed^H2763 it (as he had done^H6213 to Jericho^H3405 and her king,^H4428 so he had done^H6213 to Ai^H5857 and her king),^H4428 and how the inhabitants^H3427 of Gibeon^H1391 had made peace^H7999 with Israel,^H3478 and were among^H7130 them;

And the children^H1121 of Israel^H3478 asked^H7592 of Jehovah^H3068 (for the ark^H727 of the covenant^H1285 of God^H430 was there in those days,^H3117

Therefore they asked^H7592 of Jehovah^H3068 further, Is there yet a man^H376 to come^H935 hither?^H1988 And Jehovah^H3068 answered,^H559 Behold, he hath hid^H2244 himself among the baggage.^H3627

Then said^H559 David^H1732 to the Philistine,^H6430 Thou comest^H935 to me with a sword,^H2719 and with a spear,^H2595 and with a javelin:^H3591 but I come^H935 to thee in the name^H8034 of Jehovah^H3068 of hosts,^H6635 the God^H430 of the armies^H6635 of Israel,^H3478 whom thou hast defied.^H2778

And Samuel^H8050 said^H559 to Saul,^H7586 Why hast thou disquieted^H7264 me, to bring me up?^H5927 And Saul^H7586 answered,^H559 I am sore^H3966 distressed;^H6887 for the Philistines^H6430 make war^H3898 against me, and God^H430 is departed^H5493 from me, and answereth^H6030 me no more, neither by^H3027 prophets,^H5030 nor by dreams:^H2472 therefore I have called^H7121 thee, that thou mayest make known^H3045 unto me what I shall do.^H6213

And the king^H4428 of Israel^H3478 said^H559 unto his servants,^H5650 Know^H3045 ye that Ramoth -^H7433 gilead^H1568 is ours, and we are still,^H2814 and take^H3947 it not out of the hand^H3027 of the king^H4428 of Syria?^H758

But the angel^H4397 of Jehovah^H3068 said^H1696 to Elijah^H452 the Tishbite,^H8664 Arise,^H6965 go up^H5927 to meet^H7125 the messengers^H4397 of the king^H4428 of Samaria,^H8111 and say^H1696 unto them, Is it because there is no God^H430 in Israel,^H3478 that ye go^H1980 to inquire^H1875 of Baal-zebub,^H1176 the god^H1980 of Ekron?^H6138

Go^H3212 ye, inquire^H1875 of Jehovah^H3068 for me, and for the people,^H5971 and for all Judah,^H3063 concerning the words^H1697 of this book^H5612 that is found;^H4672 for great^H1419 is the wrath^H2534 of Jehovah^H3068 that is kindled^H3341 against us, because our fathers^H1 have not hearkened^H8085 unto the words^H1697 of this book,^H5612 to do^H6213 according unto all that which is written^H3789 concerning us.

And there came out^H3318 against them Zerah^H2226 the Ethiopian^H3569 with an army^H2428 of a thousand^H505 thousand,^H505 and three^H7969 hundred^H3967 chariots;^H4818 and he came^H935 unto Mareshah.^H4762

And Jehovah^H3068 sent^H7971 an angel,^H4397 who cut off^H3582 all the mighty men^H1368 of valor,^H2428 and the leaders^H5057 and captains,^H8269 in the camp^H4264 of the king^H4428 of Assyria.^H804 So he returned^H7725 with shame^H1322 of face^H6440 to his own land.^H776 And when he was come^H935 into the house^H1004 of his god,^H430 they that came forth^H3329 from his own bowels^H4578 slew^H5307 him there with the sword.^H2719

Come,^H3212 behold^H2372 the works^H4659 of Jehovah,^H3068 What desolations^H8047 he hath made^H7760 in the earth.^H776

Remember^H2142 his marvellous works^H6381 that he hath done,^H6213 His wonders,^H4159 and the judgments^H4941 of his mouth,^H6310

Behold,^H2005 Jehovah's^H3068 hand^H3027 is not shortened,^H7114 that it cannot save;^H3467 neither his ear^H241 heavy,^H3513 that it cannot hear:^H8085

Behold, the mounds,^H5550 they are come^H935 unto the city^H5892 to take^H3920 it; and the city^H5892 is given^H5414 into the hand^H3027 of the Chaldeans^H3778 that fight^H3898 against it, because^H6440 of the sword,^H2719 and of the famine,^H7458 and of the pestilence;^H1698 and what thou hast spoken^H1696 is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest^H7200 it.

And Zedekiah^H6667 the king^H4428 sent^H7971 Jehucal^H3081 the son^H1121 of Shelemiah,^H8018 and Zephaniah^H6846 the son^H1121 of Maaseiah,^H4641 the priest,^H3548 to the prophet^H5030 Jeremiah,^H3414 saying,^H559 Pray^H6419 now unto Jehovah^H3068 our God^H430 for us.

Then Zedekiah^H6667 the king^H4428 sent,^H7971 and took^H3947 Jeremiah^H3414 the prophet^H5030 unto him into the third^H7992 entry^H3996 that is in the house^H1004 of Jehovah:^H3068 and the king^H4428 said^H559 unto Jeremiah,^H3414 I will ask^H7592 thee a thing;^H1697 hide^H3582 nothing from me.

Then Jeremiah^H3414 the prophet^H5030 said^H559 unto them, I have heard^H8085 you; behold, I will pray^H6419 unto Jehovah^H3068 your God^H430 according to your words;^H1697 and it shall come to pass that whatsoever thing^H1697 Jehovah^H3068 shall answer^H6030 you, I will declare^H5046 it unto you; I will keep^H4513 nothing^H1697 back^H4513 from you.

And it came to pass in the ninth^H8671 year^H8141 of his reign,^H4427 in the tenth^H6224 month,^H2320 in the tenth^H6218 day of the month,^H2320 that Nebuchadrezzar^H5019 king^H4428 of Babylon^H894 came,^H935 he and all his army,^H2428 against Jerusalem,^H3389 and encamped^H2583 against it; and they built^H1129 forts^H1785 against it round about.^H5439

And it came to pass in the seventh^H7637 year,^H8141 in the fifth^H2549 [month], the tenth^H6218 [day] of the month,^H2320 that certain^H582 of the elders^H2205 of Israel^H3478 came^H935 to inquire^H1875 of Jehovah,^H3068 and sat^H3427 before^H6440 me.
