Behold, I send you as sheepe in the middes of the wolues: be yee therefore wise as serpents, and innocent as doues.

Wherefore beholde, I send vnto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucifie: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from citie to citie,

But take ye heede to your selues: for they shall deliuer you vp to the Councils, and to the Synagogues: ye shalbe beaten, and brought before rulers and Kings for my sake, for a testimoniall vnto them.

Remember the word that I said vnto you, The seruant is not greater then his master. If they haue persecuted me, they will persecute you also: if they haue kept my worde, they will also keepe yours.

And they layde handes on them, and put them in holde, vntill the next day: for it was now euentide.

And to him they agreed, and called the Apostles: and when they had beaten them, they commaunded that they should not speake in the Name of Iesus, and let them goe.

Then they gaue a shoute with a loude voyce, and stopped their eares, and ranne vpon him violently all at once,

And hee fell to the earth, and heard a voyce, saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

The people also rose vp together against them, and the gouernours rent their clothes, and commaunded them to be beaten with roddes.

On the next day, because hee would haue knowen the certaintie wherefore he was accused of the Iewes, he loosed him from his bonds, and commaunded the hie Priests and all their Councill to come together: and he brought Paul, and set him before them.

When Festus was then come into the prouince, after three dayes he went vp from Cæsarea vnto Hierusalem.

Then Agrippa sayd vnto Festus, I would also heare the man my selfe. To morowe, sayd he, thou shalt heare him.

Who both killed the Lord Iesus & their owne Prophets, & haue persecuted vs away, and God they please not, and are contrary to all men,

Dearely beloued, thinke it not strange concerning the firie triall, which is among you to proue you, as though some strange thing were come vnto you:
