What is man, that he should be cleane? and he that is borne of woman, that he shoulde be iust?
Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.
There is a generation that are pure in their owne conceite, and yet are not washed from their filthinesse.
This is euill among all that is done vnder the sunne, that there is one condition to all, and also the heart of the sonnes of men is full of euill, and madnes is in their heartes whiles they liue, and after that, they goe to the dead.
The way of peace they knowe not, & there is none equitie in their goings: they haue made them crooked paths: whosoeuer goeth therein, shall not knowe peace.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
And he put no difference betweene vs and them, after that by faith he had purified their heartes.
Wherein, in times past ye walked, according to the course of this world, and after the prince that ruleth in the aire, euen the spirite, that nowe worketh in the children of disobedience,
Who gaue him selfe for vs, that hee might redeeme vs from all iniquitie, and purge vs to bee a peculiar people vnto himselfe, zealous of good woorkes.
Not by the woorkes of righteousnesse, which we had done, but according to his mercie he saued vs, by the washing of the newe birth, and the renewing of the holy Ghost,
If ye know that he is righteous, know ye that he which doeth righteously, is borne of him.
