¶ An evil [man] seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

And Jesus answering said unto them, ‹Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.› And they marvelled at him.

¶ Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;

¶ But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous [are they], selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
