And he appointed [certain] of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
¶ Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
‹Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.›
¶ After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
¶ While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid [their] hands on them, they sent [them] away.
¶ Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
And he said unto me, ‹Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.›
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called [me] by his grace,
Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, [and] lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
